Sports and Academies Term 2
Term 2 has been another exciting term filled with many sporting events. Students have represented the school across a range of competitions including badminton, netball, soccer and AFL. The commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship displayed by all students throughout the term has been outstanding. A special congratulations goes to our Senior Girls Soccer Team and Year 7 Girls Soccer Team, who have both progressed to Regionals. This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of their hard work and determination. Our AFL team also deserves recognition. This year marked the first time in over five years that our AFL team has been able to attend interschool sport. The team should be extremely proud of their efforts on the day!
Thank you to all students, staff and coaches who contributed to another successful term of school sport. We look forward to seeing what can be achieved in Term 3.
Academy Updates
Rugby Academy
It has been an exciting and busy term for our Rugby Students.
Our Under 18s competed in their inaugural season of the Storm Cup, gaining valuable experience and showcasing their talent throughout the competition. They also participated in the Storm Trophy Gala Day, continuing to develop their skills and represent the school with pride.
Our year 10/11/12 students had an amazing day out visiting AAMI Park for the Storm Waka Careers Program.
The program aims to expose young and emerging leaders in schools with diverse career pathways available in Sports Administration.
Our students were greeted by the opportunity to observe both the NRL Storm and N.S.W origin players training for their next match. A once in a lifetime opportunity!
Throughout the day, keynote speakers shared their background and experiences which cleared a path and placed them in the position they are in now. Students asked questions, took notes and participated in all activities.

A highlight of the term was the academy’s trip to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where students joined other schools and rugby league clubs to successfully set a new world record for the longest ball throw.
As the holidays approach our final event for the term is the Len Masons State Final on Tuesday 23rd June. The Under 16 Girls, Under 16 Boys and Under 14 Boys teams represented the college facing some fierce competition. Wishing them good luck as they battle it out for the title.
Soccer Academy
The Soccer Academy has enjoyed a number of events this term. Students in Years 9 and 10 attended SEDA, where they gained insight into pathways and opportunities within the sporting industry.
Our Year 8 students participated in Victory Cup with Melbourne Victory, competing against 16 boys teams and 8 girls teams. Both boys teams finished just outside the finals. A huge effort by all and thank you to our Academies Staff for such a great day.
The academy also played friendly matches against St Francis Xavier College (SFX). Both teams competed strongly, with the girls narrowly defeated and the boys a draw.
Congratulations to all academy students for their continued commitment, enthusiasm and positive representation of the school. We look forward to an exciting Term 3.
