Careers and Pathways Update

This term, students have continued to engage in a range of careers and pathway development opportunities designed to support informed decision-making about their futures. Through personalised counselling, industry and university engagement, and post-school pathway planning, students have been exploring the many opportunities available to them beyond secondary school.

Yr 10 course Counselling discussions. Beginning in Year 10, students receive comprehensive counselling sessions to assist students with navigating the range of academic choices provided at the College, including traditional VCE pathways, VCE-VM, VPC and VET studies. This process allows students to explore their strengths and passions, ensuring that each student has access to pathways aligned with their individual goals as they pursue meaningful and rewarding futures.

Yr 12 Career pathway conversations – providing 1:1 quality pathway counselling is essential for preparing our students for academic success as they transition beyond secondary school, guiding them toward diverse pathways such as university, TAFE, and internship, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

Swinburne student panel – Current Swinburne University students come to Hampton Park Secondary College to share their experiences and their pathways from VCE general direct to university and the VM pathway experience to university. Our students have the opportunity to ask the panel any questions they have about transitioning into university life.

VTAC Year 12  session – This tutorial helps year 12 students to create their VTAC account to submit applications to university. The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is an independent shared admissions service facilitating access to tertiary education and further study opportunities and pathways for learners in Victoria.  VTAC supports young people, connect with further study to achieve their learning aspirations, professional growth, and dream careers www.vtac.edu.au
