Sports and Academies Program Overview
The Sports and Academies Program at HPSC supports student engagement, achievement, and wellbeing through elite sport and specialised learning. We focus on developing student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the field.
Program Highlights
- Inclusive and Purpose-Driven: Blends academic learning with targeted athletic development, promoting attendance, motivation, and school connectedness.
- Pathways and Opportunities: Offers clear career and education pathways in sport, health, coaching, and allied industries. Students are supported by expert staff and strong industry partnerships.
- Key Partnerships: Includes our flagship partnership with Melbourne Victory FC, providing elite training, coaching, and high-performance pathways.
Core Sports
Our focus sports reflect student interest and community diversity:
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
- Soccer (Football)
Specialist coaches lead each program, with training embedded into curriculum. We also support students pursuing other sports.
Rugby Academy Pathway
Years 8–10
- Skill development, game sense, and strength and conditioning
- Embedded in HPE curriculum
- Focus on teamwork, resilience, and leadership
- Academic and behaviour contract in place
- Coaching Accreditations
Years 11–12 (VCE VM – Rugby Focus)
- Sport and community leadership
- Coaching and vocational opportunities
- Certifications (e.g. First Aid, coaching)
- Pathways to TAFE, apprenticeships, or sport careers
- First Aid Level 1 Accreditation
- Referee Accreditation
Melbourne Victory Soccer Academy
Years 8–10
- Technical skill and game development
- Integrated with HPE and Personal Development
- Strong focus on discipline, leadership, and teamwork
- Academic and behaviour contract in place
On-Site VET Programs
Industry-recognised qualifications offered on campus in the industry:
- Certificate III & IV in Sport and Recreation
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
Hands-on learning aligned with student goals in sport and health sectors.

All participants must be enrolled full-time at HPSC. The program includes a fee for coaching, equipment, and uniform (financial support may be available).
