House News
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
At Walton House, Term 2 has been marked by sustained engagement, reflection, and achievement across a wide range of College experiences. Building on the strong foundation established at the beginning of the term, students have continued to embody the enduring values of courage, perseverance, leadership, and service inspired by Nancy Bird Walton.
A highlight of the term has been the Year 9 City Experience, which provided students with an authentic opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom. Through exploration of Melbourne’s cultural, historical, and civic spaces, students demonstrated independence, curiosity, and respect for their environment. The experience strengthened their understanding of community, identity, and responsibility, while also fostering collaboration and resilience in unfamiliar settings.
Our Values Assembly was another significant moment in the life of Walton House. This occasion invited students to reflect more deeply on the principles that underpin our College culture. Through student contributions and shared stories, the assembly reinforced the importance of integrity, respect, and service in everyday actions. It provided a meaningful reminder that values are not simply discussed but are lived through consistent behaviour and positive contribution to the community. As a result of the great work of Walton students, we have moved up into 2nd place overall with eyes looking forward to overtaking Hollows before the end of the year.
Mid-year exams have also been a central focus this term. Students approached this period with increasing maturity and accountability, demonstrating their ability to manage time, prepare effectively, and respond to academic challenge. The commitment shown throughout the examination period reflects a growing sense of ownership over learning and a clear drive to achieve personal best.
Acknowledgement must also be given to the many quieter contributions that shape our community each day. Acts of kindness, leadership within peer groups, and a commitment to inclusion continue to define the culture of Walton House. These everyday actions are essential in building a respectful and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
As we move towards the conclusion of Term 2, Walton House is well positioned for continued growth. The term has reflected a balance of academic focus, experiential learning, and community connection. Students have consistently demonstrated the values that define our House, and this provides a strong platform as we look ahead to the opportunities of Term 3 and beyond.
